DIY CLOTH MASKS – WITHOUT SEWING!
The CDC is recommending a cloth mask be worn by anyone going out in public as well as maintaining the 6 feet apart social distance guideline. The reason CDC is recommending a cloth mask instead of surgical masks or N95 is because of the supply shortage. Surgical and N95 masks should be reserved for healthcare workers or other medical first responders.
A few pointers for cloth masks:
- A fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
- Be secured with ties or ear loops
- Include multiple layers of fabric
- Allow for breathing without restriction
- Be able to be machine dried without damage or change of shape
Here is a great video on how to make a mask without the need for a sewing machine.
